Vanessa Shawver
Vanessa Shawver spent 24 years in the military. She was in both the Army and Air Force. She was a Blackhawk helicopter pilot in the Army, and became the first female pilot in the “Fighting Cavalry.” While in the National Guard, she was an instructor for the Officer Candidate School program. She was both an electronic warfare specialist and Flight Commander in the Air Force Reserve and spent time as an Aerial Event Coordinator as well. In her spare time, she has worked as a personal trainer and group exercise instructor, which she has been doing for 20 years. She also started the Brewers’ Cup Running Competition, which works with over 26 local breweries and has around 400 participants to promote physical activity and patronage of local businesses.
